Between 25 and 26 July 2023, Phan Nhu Thuc PhD, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of Da Nang University of Science and Technology, visited Budapest at the invitation of the International Education Office of Óbuda University, after the President of our Association, Dr. Csaba Ágoston personally presented the operation of the Hungarian green industry and the experiences of the Association at several Vietnamese universities.

The purpose of Phan Nhu Thuc's visit was to learn in detail about plastic waste management and the Hungarian circular economy and to share the University of Óbuda's experience in plastic waste management and odor control in Da Nang city and the central region of Vietnam in general.
His programme included a visit to the laboratories of the University's Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Natural Sciences and a visit to the Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Engineering to discuss opportunities for research and educational cooperation.
A visit to the Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises was made to present Hungarian practice, where Gergely Hankó, Managing Director, presented the activities of the Association.
During his visit, which lasted several days, a meeting was also held at Biokör Kft., where he got to know the structure and operation of the laboratory.
Visit at the River Rescue Centre in Kisköre
Together, they visited the River Rescue Centre in Kisköre, where KÖTIVIZIG experts presented the problem of waste pollution at the dam and the possibilities for its remediation, followed by a presentation on the methods of sorting, pre-treatment and recovery of river waste at the PET Cup River Rescue Centre.

Brussels, 21 April 2023 - Today, world’s leading standardisation body International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC) met in Tokyo to discuss the key findings of the joint study conducted by APPLiA-led Microplastic Consortium to assess the release of microplastic particles and fibres in household washing processes. This meeting marks a landmark step toward the development of a reliable, repeatable, and reproducible measurement method for household washing machines.

On 22 March, the European Commission came forward with a new consumer protection proposal to tackle greenwashing and prevent consumers from being misled. The proposals put forward by the Commission today aim to protect businesses and consumers from harmful green labelling practices and tackle the problem of the proliferation of labels.

The patron of the conference was the Deputy State Secretary for the Environment of the Ministry of Technology and Industry.
During the two-day conference, participants got an insight into the global trends in the remediation of contaminated sites and the framework and developments of Hungarian national programmes. They could learn about the latest technological solutions in pollution measurement and sampling or different remediation procedures. Several remediation results were presented at the event that address environmental and health risks.
